Care & Treatment
People with disabilities have the right to receive care and treatment in the most appropriate, least restrictive, and integrated settings. All care and treatment should maximize opportunities for self-determination and provide access to due process, informed consent, confidentiality, and privacy.
Freedom from Abuse and Neglect
People with disabilities who live in 24-hour care and treatment facilities, community-based homes, and attend community-based programs should live free from abuse, neglect, and untimely deaths.
Accessible Communities
Care and treatment facilities and community-based programs must be accessible to people with disabilities.
Independence, Productivity, Integration, and Inclusion
People with disabilities will receive care and treatment that is appropriate and provided in the least restrictive environment befitting the ADA integration mandate.
Self Determination
People with disabilities will make their own decisions about their care and treatment. This includes informed consent, access to and confidentiality of records, adherence to Advance Directives, and access to community-based services upon discharge from a hospital stay.
