Power of Attorney for Education
HDRC is here to help parents or guardians on issues concerning the education of children with disabilities.
A power of attorney is a document that gives an adult the legal authority to act on your behalf, often for a specific purpose, such as educational decisions. HDRC can help you understand the importance of this document and help you decide which type of power of attorney is best for your situation.
There are two primary types related to making decisions about the education of a person with a disability:
- A Durable Power of Attorney for Special Education gives one adult the authority to make decisions.
- A Joint Durable Power of Attorney for Special Education gives two adults the legal authority to make decisions.
We can help you determine which might work best for you. Contact us at (808) 949-2922 or email an advocate at [email protected].
