Emergency Preparedness

Many people are concerned about the possibility of a public health emergency such as a natural disaster. Think about the number of storm warnings we get here in Hawaii. Each time we hear about a storm heading our way on the news, don’t you worry about what YOU should do?

You can take steps now to help you prepare for an emergency and cope if an emergency happens. To help you prepare, HDRC can provide step-by-step actions you can take beforehand to protect yourself and your loved ones.

We can prepare you with the help of an Emergency Checklist and a Preparedness Packet list that identifies what information and supplies should be at your fingertips should an emergency event strike.

Our training includes:

  • Helping you prepare and store personal information, such as copies of IDs and emergency supplies to have for home, work, car and/or school,
  • maintaining a list of household members with current emergency contacts,
  • knowing where your evacuation shelter or meeting place is located, if needed in an emergency.

Our HDRC advocates are happy to train groups of individuals on this very important, potentially life-saving activity.
